Setting off from Reeth we take a steep climb up Fremington Edge, then take the moorland path to Hurst, once a Roman penal colony and thriving lead mining area. Then another moorland track leads over to the top of Fell End lead mine hush, a descent leads to Storthwaite Hall; followed by a meandering walk back to Reeth following the Arkle beck and passing the ruin of Castle, a very early site for Methodist preaching by John Wesley.
