Swaledale Geology and Landscape

Spend a day looking at the geology and landscape of Swaledale, led by two enthusiastic local geologists Stephen Clark and Les Knight. The morning will comprise of two short talks covering the rocks of Swaledale, the geological structure of the Pennines, local ore mineral deposits including lead, and the impact of glaciers on the shape of the valley. There will also be the chance to look at a collection of rock and mineral samples from Keld Resource Centre. After a break for lunch the afternoon will include a guided field trip around the Keld area looking at geology, landscape and lead mining.
