Developed in the 1800s, Cyanotype printing is a monochrome image or ‘print’ made by placing pre-prepared objects on a light sensitive surface and was a precursor to photography. It was used by the Victorians to, for example, create images of ferns and other plants.
This workshop will introduce you to Cyanotype printing on fabric, producing one or two ‘negative’ images on a rich blue background from objects sourced that morning from Keld and surrounding area. You will then develop one of your images as a stitched or embroidered piece.
Please bring a packed lunch.
