Ron Allan, from North Yorkshire Council, explores the history of the development of the public rights of way in the Upper Dale.

Ron will talk about how the definitive map of rights of way is developed and how it can be changed.  He will also discuss the challenges of managing the biggest path network in the country including some of the most popular long-distance paths that pass through the Upper Dale.  Ron will also explain the impact of National Trail status, which includes the Pennine Way and - soon - the Coast to Coast.
