Dave Carlisle, assisted by Pete Roe, present an illustrated talk giving a mining engineer's view of winning and working lead ore in Swaledale and Arkengarthdale over four centuries. Dave will focus on the evolution of underground mining equipment and techniques, improvements in ore treatment methods and the extraction and uses of other minerals found in the area.
